Intro & Research Interests
Computational Biologist and Information Scientist, Academic Careers
Thinker, Dreamer, Blogger and Friend of yours! My Facebook Page

I will be a storyteller and genome scientist to contribute to society. It will be a positive influence on the science education.
For example, I hope that I will be writing a beautiful scientific fiction, so many kids would have dream to be good scientists.
I finished my B.S in Applied Biology & Chemistry and B.A in Information & Multimedia culture at Seoul National University in South Korea.
After arrival in United States, I've been working on designing and constructing cyber-infrastructure platform for the scientific communities.
Genome sequence analyses are very important in Life Sciences, therefore I've learned Bioinformatics and Genomics at Pennsylvania State
University. Currently, I'm a graduate research fellow in USDA-AFRI Plant Biosecurity program (2006-2011).

Involved projects(2004-2011)
I have involved in multiple projects as scientific programmer and database administrator since 2004.

- Global Phytophthora Networks
Toward the goal of enhancing our ability to detect, diagnose, monitor, and manage Phytophthora diseases, we have been systematically cataloging genotypic and phenotypic data of Phytophthora spp. in a web-based database that can be easily accessed and utilized by the global community of plant health professionals.
- Cyber-infrastructure for Fusarium
Fusarium causes infectious disease to Plant, Animal, and Human. The long-term goal of CiF is to build a community resource that supports the archiving, integration and utilization of data from diverse areas of Fusarium research, ranging from genomics, phylogenetics, and population genetics to epidemiology.
- Oomycete Comparative Genomics Platform
- Pythium Species and Isolate Database
- Comparative Fungal Genomics Platform (2008 NAR DB)
- SNUGB (Seoul National University Genome Browser)
- Phyloviewer (Web-based Phylogenomics Platform)
- IMGD (Insect Mitochondria Genome Database)
- FCPD (Fugal Cytochrome P450 Database)
- ABC Transporter Analysis Platform
- FTFD (Fugal Transcription Factor Database)
- LIMS (Lab Information Management System)
- Departmental Blog System at Penn State
- Wikipedia for Plant Pathology
- Cultural Studies for Genome Sciences
Genome is one of the major keywords in human society. Life scientists are interested in genome information and its implication. Moreover, commercially available genome analysis packages were introduced recently, and genome science becomes very familiar and popular to general audiences. As growing number of genome sequencing projects, this will impact to culture of society in formats of movies, comics, games, and designs.
